William grew up in a remote logging camp on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. He attended St. George's Private school for boys in Vancouver for his high school years. In his 20th year he travelled to New Zealand, Australia and across Asia, Europe and Canada. Then moved to Australia to live for a year. He returned to work in his father's logging camp for 5 years finishing as an experienced logging engineer. He moved away, married, achieved a diploma in Forestry with fish, wildlife & recreation as his focus. In Burns Lake he worked as a Habitat Tech. In Coal Harbour, he built a salmon farm. Then he returned to university where he obtained his B.Ed, then a post baccalaureate diploma in teaching English in a Second Language, and finally an M.Ed. After seven years teaching in the lower mainland, he tried teaching in Japan, but allergies drove him out. He taught middle school in Saudi Arabia, but the 9-11 event ended that path. In the UAE he found a home teaching cadets in the military, then mid-level officers. He returned to BC in 2012 living in Nanaimo teaching at VIU in their ELC until Covid retired him late in 2020. He now lives as a homesteader in his former home where the logging aspect of life has ceased.
